Connect Chromebook to Bluetooth devices

If your Chromebook works with Bluetooth, it can connect to devices like:

  • Keyboards
  • Mice
  • Speakers
  • Headphones
  • Headsets (audio only)

Important: Only pair your Chromebook to devices you trust. Devices stay paired to your Chromebook even when other people use your computer.

Check if your Chromebook works with Bluetooth

  1. On your Chromebook, at the bottom right, select the time.
  2. If you find Bluetooth , your Chromebook works with Bluetooth.

Turn Bluetooth on

  1. On your Chromebook, at the bottom right, select the time.
  2. Select Bluetooth and then Toggle On .

Pair a new Bluetooth device

Important: Your phone can’t pair to your Chromebook with Bluetooth. Learn how to connect your Android phone to your Chromebook.

Before you pair a device to your Chromebook, on the device, make sure that Bluetooth is turned on, discoverable, and it’s in pairing mode. To make sure that Bluetooth is on, check your device’s instructions or seek support for your device.
  1. On your Chromebook, at the bottom right, select the time.
  2. Select Bluetooth  and then Toggle On .
  3. Select + Pair new device.
    • The device that you connect to your Chromebook needs to be in pairing mode.
  4. Select the device you want to connect.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  6. To confirm whether your device is connected, repeat steps 1 and 2.
  7. Find your device under "Currently connected."

Tip: To pair your Google Pixel Buds with a Chromebook, open the case and press the back button until the light pulses. Then go to your Chromebook's Bluetooth settings, select + Pair new device, and choose your Pixel Buds from the list. Learn how to pair a new bluetooth device with a Chromebook.

Use Fast Pair on your Chromebook

When you put your Fast Pair-enabled accessory in pairing mode, it automatically detects and pairs with your Chromebook. Fast Pair also associates your Bluetooth accessory with your Hero Account. This allows you to easily switch between devices.

To easily connect and setup devices close by:

  1. On your Chromebook, at the bottom right, select the time.
  2. Select Settings and then Bluetooth.
  3. Turn on Pair new device.

To connect your device through theQuick Settings” menu:

  1. On your Chromebook, at the bottom right, select the time.
  2. To turn on Bluetooth, select Bluetooth .
    • If the device is new to your Chromebook: Once your Fast Pair device is detected, select Connect.
    • If the device is connected previously to the Chromebook: Your Fast Pair device connects automatically.

Tip: Devices saved to your account aren't available from the Quick Settings menu. To manage these devices, go to Settings and then Bluetooth and then Devices saved to your account.

If the connection fails, try to connect the device manually through the Bluetooth settings menu:

  1. Go to Settings .
  2. Under “Bluetooth”, select Pair new device.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Manage your connected devices

Turn Bluetooth off

  1. On your Chromebook, at the bottom right, select the time.
